The Breast Diseases Research Group achieved success in obtaining principal permission in 1997 and definite permission in 1999 for research activity from central office of ACECR. The investigators involved in this group are among highly qualified specialists in the nation, working full time in the field of breast cancer research, training, diagnosis and treatment. The results of research studies have been reported in papers which were all presented at national and international seminars, scientific congresses and academic speeches. These continuous efforts have been resulted in completion of more than 45 research studies, publication of more than 10 books, 140 papers in prestigious journals and 200 papers in the form of speech or poster presentation at national and international scientific congresses.

The BCRG is made up by a cohesive group of researchers working together as a multidisciplinary team consisted of General Surgery, Radiology and Hematology/Medical Oncology to deliver high quality breast health services.

Objectives

  • Research-based knowledge production to prevent and reduce breast cancer risk factors
  • Research-based knowledge production to enhance breast cancer treatment methods
  • Registration  of breast cancer patients' data through knowledge production
  • To increase women’s awareness and knowledge about breast diseases through seminars, media resources, media interviews and educational brochures.
  • To improve knowledge and capabilities of group members through participating in workshops, seminars, and scientific meetings
  • To conduct joint research  projects with other breast cancer research centers
  • To update specialized protocols for diagnosis and treatment of breast diseases and to treat patients according to protocols that are updated.
  • To hold specialized scientific meetings at regular intervals  and to set up a team for treatment of challenging patients
