Researchers at Motamed Brest Cancer Institute have successfully designed and produced (Covid-19) diagnostic test kits under the trade name COVIMED using the latest technology.
Dr. Keivan Majidzadeh, the director of Motamed Cancer Institute, stated that the first Iranian-made COVID-19 test kit has received approval from the Pasteur Institute after multiple stages of evaluation.
On 18.04, 2020, Dr. Tayebi, the head of Academic Center for Culture, Education and Research (ACCER) said" when the corona virus outbreak emerged in China, we predicted that virus could spread to other countries, so we started focusing on making molecular diagnostic test kits to identify the disease".
"Researchers at Motamed Cancer Institute affiliated with ACCER began to work on developing Coronavirus test kits, and then fortunately succeeded in producing reliable diagnostic kits", he noted.
"Today we are pleased to announce that the accuracy of home-made Corona virus test kits has been confirmed, and now Motamed Breast Cancer Institute is capable of providing one million kits per month through the financial support of Headquarters for Executing the Order of the Imam", he added.

Diagnostic Performance of Home-Made Corona virus Test Kits
Dr. Ramin Sarrami, Research and Technology deputy of Motamed Cancer Institute, added that domestically –developed Coronavirus diagnostic kits have the following specific benefits: having high sensitivity for the detection, determining the titer and grade of the virus quantitatively, examining the three regions of the viral genome as a screening and confirmatory test, having very low cost of production and optimal design based on the latest information from the Corona virus genome.
He emphasized that the potential ability of domestic facilities is much higher than the one used to produce Corona virus diagnostic kits and expressed the readiness of Motamed Breast Cancer Institute to enter the complicated fields. He also noted that we intend to improve the quality of domestically –developed Corona virus diagnostic kits by conducting more experiments on patients.
"The Iranian Corona virus test kits can compete with their foreign counterparts in terms of quality", he said.
Dr. Sarrami also acknowledged his colleagues in the Pasteur Institute for their assistance and guidance in producing Corona virus diagnostic kits.
In conclusion, he stated that our interactions with knowledge-based companies-at home and abroad- resulted in lower and more competitive prices.
